City Elections

Well city elections are over and we chose a new Mayor. Hopefully this one will have our streets repaved while our previous Mayor built a new city hall in the tune of 1.5
million dollars.

Our Police Department has just come up to par with new patrol cars and more officers and they will be moving into the new city hall soon also. The Fire Department has a beef with the new Mayor their new quarters are very small and only allows for two men, but they get the old city hall which is not very big either. There has to be two fire stations due to the railroad running right through the middle of our little town.

I Believe I Will Take My Blanket Every Where I Go

I have been working in an office for 32 count them 32 years. I have been at the same place now for 15 years so half my life working has been in a cold office. The men in my office have on coats and ties and I have to freeze every summer and winter. It does not matter what time of the year it is the temperature in the office is 67 degrees. I get summer colds and winter colds. I have often carried a blanket with me to keep warm.

They all went on a trip together one week and when they came back they brought me a
Cabin Cuddler. The tote bag turns into a pillow case, and it has an inflatable pillow. The blanket covers up every inch of my body and it has a pocket to keep my feet warm.

Imagine this on an airplane your very own travel blanket. If you get stuck at an airport which is happening frequently now you will have your own pillow and blanket to snuggle up with. At least this will help soften the blow of having to hang out at an airport.

Even traveling on an airplane I have noticed how cold it gets. I believe I will take my blanket every where I go.

It is time for my daughter to go back to college. She is so excited the summer bores her to death. She is a Pre Med major imagine that? I have a daughter who wants to be a doctor, Cardiologist at that. Well I guess I will not have to worry if I have any heart problems.

Suffering Some Major Heat With a Burned out a/c compressor

I am so excited I can barely contain myself. My husband's air conditioning compressor went out a couple of months ago and he has had to suffer some major heat driving it around. Juvenile Home is not a Great Place to Be

I was listening to the news this morning and the mayor in Birmingham is wanting the citizens to vote on a curfew. There is at least one person killed everyday and most of them are teenagers. The curfew would start around 10:00 pm and the first offense the parent would be fined $500.00 and it goes up from there and even has some jail time. Parents should be responsible for their children but what if you have one that just will not listen? I guess that means juvenile home for them.

New Jersey's Shorelines

I have never mentioned that I have a regular daytime job. Our corporate office is located in New Jersey. Every so often I have to go there for a meeting. When I do I take a family beach vacation with my husband and youngest daughter.

No one really thinks about New Jersey's shorelines when you want to go to the beach. When you are thinking of going to a beach keep this in mind. There is a ton of things to do here. I usually take a week off with my family and after the meeting we enjoy walking on the boardwalk. You would be surprised how beautiful the beach is and next time you plan a family beach vacation this is the place to go.

You Are Not The Only One With Organization Problems

As you know this time of year schools will be starting again soon. My daughter will be returned to college and I will miss her tremendously. She is so organized and has all her boxes labeled. I sometimes ask myself is she my daughter? I remember when I first started to school. I was so nervous and shy. Back then my mother wrote my name on my clothes, my books and even my pencils. When you hear an older adult tell you that they had to walk to schools, believe them. Sure we had buses but if you lived within 2 miles of the school you had to walk because the buses did not pick up within 2 miles of the school. The schools felt as if you should get the exercise and walk, which my siblings and I did along with every neighborhood child. You could not see the sidewalks there were so many kids.

By the time we got to school all the items I had to bring felt like they weighed ten times heavier. My new pretty yellow dress was all messed up and wrinkled. When I walked into my class (my mother had made sure I knew where it was before hand) I was so excited. When the bell rang my new teacher walked in the room. Ms. Wiggins looked so old I thought for sure she would fall over any minute, but she did remind me of my grandmother so that made me feel better. When it was time to start work she made sure everyone had their pencils, notebooks and paper. She handed out our books. I thought I had finally grown up.

Over the years I was the most disorganized person in our family. I was always asking my mom and dad what I did with this and that especially my school books. Their reply was they did not have any reason to have my books therefore I needed to keep up with them.

This is what brought me to my question of whether or not my daughter was actually mine. If I had not been at the hospital and knew she was mine I still would think she was someone else's child.

My daughter bought a label maker. She has labeled everything she owns and all the boxes she has packed. She even has Color labels to organize whether it goes in the closet at the dorm or on the shelves of her bookcase. Of course when I was that young we did not have this option. I now use one at work and maybe that is where she got it from. This is an excellent way to mark children's items that have to bring to school, pencil holders, notebooks, even pencils and pens.

Parents organize your children's things it gets very complicated for a young person just starting school to remember everything. This will make their life so much easier. Isn't that what parents are for?

Power Company Raising Rates

A couple of posts back I mentioned the power company making a ton of money. To make it worse I heard on the TV this morning that they are going to raise utility bills. Great now we can pay $500.00 a month utility bills.

They said they spent 2.6 million dollars more in gas this past year and need to raise the bills. I would like to know what they did with the other billions they made.

Play this Game and Be Put In Orbit with the Space Station

This is one of the best ideas I have ever seen on the internet. This new game called Tabula Rosa can be played by anyone that has an internet. The game will have archives that will be saved and flown to the Space Station by the sixth private citizen into space Richard Garriott.

This game will allow you to place your own motto into space. On October 12, 2008 there are going to be a ton of them slung out into space. I chose "On Earth there are two facts in life pay taxes and die". This is the honest truth. Although some countries may not call it taxes you still have to pay. I guess the reason I feel this way is that we are a free America and allowed to do anything within reason of the law except pay taxes and die these two are not optional. I really like to think that way.

I do not normally think about this alot but the game Operation Immortality made me think about it. The games motto is Operation Immortality: Leave your mark. Save Humanity. This is great I loved reading all the mottos left by a great deal of people. Some of them are funny and some serious. This game is going to make a huge mark on the internet and I hope you will join us in saving humanity and leave your mark. You may even get to submit your DNA into space.

Utility Bills are getting outrageous!

I had a discussion with my neighbor last night about our power bills. Normally we have something better to talk about, but with the gas prices and everyone having to squeeze a dollar to pay bills, this conversation was the top dog.

I read yesterday how much our power company made last year. It was in the billions! Our power bills have gone up so much we have had to go on budget billing. Our next door neighbor's bill was $365.00 for one month and this was just electricity. Can you imagine? I do not have natural gas at my home so I would hate to see someones gas bill at this time.
